My Bio

My name is Jiwon Kim and my major is computer science. I took the CSCE 445/656 Computers and New Media course because I am interested in generating diverse forms of media content. As a self-taught mixing engineer, I have participated in various productions of music videos uploaded on YouTube and provided sound engineering support in creating content for streamers active on platforms including YouTube and Twitch. I want to learn how various media make the audience engage deeply and utilize the knowledge in my future career.

My Challenge

Challenges in consumption of media

• Too many contents are updated daily, making it harder to find specific type of contents
• Some media are not available on the platforms I use (i.e. some films not on Amazon Prime Video, some games not able to run on my PC/console)

Challenges in generation of media

• Balancing the time and effort between the academic work and pastime activities
• Lack of professional skills about the tools and softwares I use
